Anyone with an interest in working with children with ADHD, in particular:

- Intern Psychology students
This workshop will focus on looking at the new DSM-V diagnosis of ADHD and different views thereof. The different assessments that can be used to identify symptoms of ADHD as well as what important aspects to look for when assessing for ADHD or when working with such children will be explored. The workshop further aims to look at the co-morbidity of ADHD with other disorders/ difficulties such as the prevalence of poor working memory.
Furthermore, the pharmacology to treat ADD/HD will be explored as well as how to approach the fears parents have about treating their ADHD child with medication. The workshop also aims at identifying ways to provide support to parents whose children have ADHD. Some case studies will also be discussed during the workshop.
This workshop was designed to provide insight into a few crucial aspects pertaining to ADHD. It aims to give practitioners some more insight into assessing and dealing with children with ADHD. The workshop aims to give practitioners practical tips on how to deal with parents whose children have ADHD. It aims to identify and resolve some issues professionals may face when dealing with ADHD in their practice.
